Material and in some cases construction units are tested across the board for their load-carrying capacity. The mostly complex problems can only be solved through interdisciplinary cooperation of different areas of expertise of the Zentrum für Konstruktionswerkstoffe. The ability to test construction units in the dimensions up to approx. 2.5 m x 6 m is a condition for the evaluations of the same. The investigations and analyses can be supplemented by construction unit simulations with the help of the finite element method.
Just like large sized construction units, so-called point holders for flat glass are also tested. Here the accurate recording of the deformation and the exact modelling are substantial.
